Runner Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 27, 2026
1. Who we are
Runner ("Runner," "we," "us") operates an API that lets developers fetch web pages through a residential network and convert them into clean, AI-ready content on demand. This policy covers the Runner website, dashboard, and API, and explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have about it.
If anything here is unclear, contact us at [email protected] before you sign up — don't guess.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you request access or create an account: name, email address, company name (if given), and billing details.
Payment information. Where paid top-ups are available, billing is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers — the processor holds that data under its own security program. Account balances themselves (credits added and spent) are recorded by us as part of your account.
Usage data. Requests made through the API (endpoint called, target URL submitted, timestamp, response size, success/failure status), dashboard activity, and the API key used to authenticate each call.
Technical data. IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and similar connection metadata collected automatically when you use our site or dashboard.
Submitted content. The target URLs and request options you send us in order to receive a result, and the page content we return for them. See Section 4 for how long this is kept.
We do not seek out or knowingly collect sensitive categories of data (health, biometric, precise geolocation of individuals, government ID numbers) as part of normal service operation, and we ask that you don't route that kind of data through the API either.
3. How we use it
- To operate the service: authenticate requests, fetch and return the data you asked for, meter usage against your account balance.
- To bill you and prevent abuse of the payment system.
- To send service notices: incident reports, planned downtime, changes to these terms, billing receipts.
- To improve reliability: aggregate, de-identified analysis of error rates, latency, and which target sites are hard to reach.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- With your separate opt-in, to send product updates. You can opt out at any time without affecting your ability to use the API.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of the pages you scrape to build products for other customers.
4. How long we keep it
- Account and billing records: kept for as long as your account is active, plus the period required by tax and accounting law after closure.
- API request logs (metadata only — endpoint, timestamp, status): kept for up to 90 days for debugging, fraud detection, and abuse prevention, then deleted or aggregated into anonymous statistics.
- Submitted content (the actual page data returned to you): stored against your account so you can retrieve the result of a past request from your dashboard or the API. It stays available until you delete the associated job or close your account. If you do not want a result retained, delete it after you have collected it.
- You can request deletion of your account data at any time; see Section 8.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with the vendors that make the service work, under contracts that limit their use of it to that purpose:
- Payment processing — a PCI-compliant processor handles card details and billing.
- Infrastructure hosting — our servers and databases run on established cloud infrastructure providers.
- Product analytics — aggregated, privacy-conscious usage analytics to understand how the dashboard is used.
- Customer support tooling — if you contact support, your message and contact details are handled through a support platform.
We do not share your data with data brokers or advertising networks. We disclose information beyond this list only if legally required (a valid subpoena or court order) or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Runner, our users, or the public — and we push back on overbroad requests before complying.
6. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data (subject to records we're legally required to keep).
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time.
If you're in the EU/UK: these rights are guaranteed under GDPR, and you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you're a California resident: you have the rights above under the CCPA, including the right to know what categories of data we've collected and to request deletion, without discrimination for exercising those rights.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We'll verify your identity before acting on the request and respond within 30 days.
7. Security
We encrypt data in transit (TLS) and restrict internal access to production data to the engineers who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee against every possible breach — but we run the service on that assumption and will notify affected users without undue delay if we learn of a security incident involving their data.
8. Deleting your account
Email [email protected] to close your account and request deletion. We'll remove your account and usage data within 30 days, except for records we're required to retain for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes, which are kept only as long as the law requires and then deleted.
9. Children's privacy
Runner is a developer tool, not a consumer product for children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, email [email protected] and we'll investigate and remove it.
10. International transfers
Our infrastructure may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for any transfer of EU/UK personal data outside those regions.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page as the service evolves and post the new effective date at the top. Material changes that reduce your rights will be communicated by email before they take effect.
